Environmental Health and Safety Goup Leader

Newman Technology of Alabama, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Group Leader in Albertville, AL. The role requires a degree in Environmental, Health, and Safety or relevant experience, knowledge of OSHA laws, and previous leadership experience. Responsibilities include overseeing safety programs, conducting training, performing audits, and ensuring OSHA compliance. Job description

This is an exempt position reporting to the Human Resources Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4 year degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or relevant experience
• Knowledge of OSHA laws
• Willing to work a flexible work schedule and support the overtime effort at a moments notice
• Previous work experience in a safety/supervisor/leadership position
• Experience in conducting training classes
• Must be a team player with a demonstrated positive attitude toward the company and its associates
• React quickly to problems and deal with responsibility
• Ability to prepare reports for top management and to Governmental Agencies
• Possess good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Competent with Microsoft Office
• Above average data analysis skills

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee and develop safety programs
• Environmental monitoring and reporting
• Safety training (new hire / contractor / and yearly)
• Perform safety audits
• Train and certify forklift and crane operators
• Identify safety issues to make sure plant is in OSHA compliance
• File and track Workers Compensation claims
• Assist associates to WC Doctor and follow-up visits
• Provide first-aid medical support
• Direct monthly safety meetings and coordinate activities with safety committee and management
• Track injuries and incidents
• Responsible for yearly health fair
• Coordinate yearly hearing testing
• Control all EHS records / forms
• Responsible for ISO Compliance and Audits

This position is performed in a climate controlled open manufacturing environment.
