About the position
The Environmental Health Supervisor in the Consumer Health Division of the City of Albuquerque is responsible for supervising, planning, and coordinating various environmental compliance and protection activities. This role involves collaboration with other divisions, outside agencies, and the public, while providing complex staff assistance to higher management. The position requires a strong background in environmental health compliance and supervisory experience, ensuring adherence to environmental laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
• Supervise, plan, and coordinate environmental compliance and protection activities.

• Coordinate activities with other divisions and outside agencies.
,
• Provide staff assistance to the Environmental Health Manager, Associate Director, and/or Director.
,
• Communicate tactfully and firmly with the public in difficult situations.
,
• Make sound judgments in stressful situations.
,
• Organize and implement comprehensive monitoring and reporting programs.
,
• Manage professional and technical staff effectively.
,
• Prepare enforcement cases and analytical reports.
,
• Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff.
,
• Conduct environmental research and forecast potential health problems.
,
• Enforce applicable environmental protection laws and regulations.
,
• Operate air quality sampling and monitoring equipment.
,
• Design and execute air quality monitoring studies.
,
• Collect, analyze, and maintain data on disease incidence.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental health, public health administration, or engineering.

• Six years of experience in environmental health compliance.
,
• Three years of supervisory experience.
,
• Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or ability to obtain by hire date.
,
• Possession of a City Operator's Permit within six months of hire.
,
• Valid Certified Professional - Food Safety (CPFS) Credential or equivalent certification within one year of hire.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in air quality control and compliance.

• Certified Pool Operator certification.
