Job Description

The County of Monmouth is hiring an Environmental Health Specialist to ensure compliance with environmental health standards, investigate incidents, and conduct facility inspections. This full-time role involves responding to complaints from the NJDEP and citizens, as well as participating in hazardous materials response. The position offers a salary of $45K per year and does not require a degree.
Environmental Health Specialists (EHS) in Monmouth County work to ensure compliance with environmental health standards and investigate environmental incidents. They are partners of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) through a grant program called the County Environmental Health Act (CEHA).

Pursuant to CEHA, Environmental Health Specialists respond to and investigate environmental incidents/complaints received and referred by the NJDEP along with complaints received directly into the office from concerned citizens of the county. EHS also perform standard compliance inspections at various facilities to ensure operating permit compliance.

Responsibilities
• Respond to and investigate environmental complaints and incidents
• Conduct routine inspections of various facilities to ensure compliance with state regulations
• Perform on the Hazardous materials response team.
