H&P Mobile Geochemistry, Inc. is hiring an Environmental Field Technician I for their Signal Hill, CA office. H&P Mobile Geochemistry, Inc. is an environmental field service company that provides a broad range of environmental sampling and analytical services to consulting companies throughout Southern California and beyond. H&P is currently looking for an Environmental Field Technician I to work out of our Signal Hill, CA office. Primary job responsibilities will include daily field work to collect environmental soil vapor, air, soil, and/or groundwater samples from job sites across Southern CA. Sample collection will be performed either independently with manual equipment, or as a helper on a direct push drill rig. Field days are typically 8-10 hour days with local travel, and require professional interaction with team members, customers, and regulators. H&P's Environmental Technicians are trained on proper sampling techniques in accordance with state and federal guidance, as well as H&P’s certified SOPs and Quality Assurance Program. Accurate record keeping, attention to detail, and math skills are a must. The Environmental Technician job duties require physical labor as well as the ability to lift 50 lbs. Other duties will include hand augering, decontamination of drilling equipment, general maintenance of work vehicles, and various tasks associated with field work. This position involves independent operation and customer interaction; therefore, applicants must possess a high degree of self-sufficiency with organized work habits and excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate:
• A desire to learn about soil vapor sampling and the importance of collecting unbiased data
• A personable and positive attitude with which to communicate with teammates, clients, regulators, and property owners
• Ability to cooperate when working as part of a team, but also have initiative and confidence to work independently
• High School Degree required, professional work experience preferred
• Clean driving record for 3+ years REQUIRED (MVR will be verified)
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Excellent record keeping skills and legible handwriting
• Solid math skills (including basic algebra)
• Flexible schedule (early mornings, out of town, weekend work, etc)
• OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training is preferred
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Live in the Signal Hill/Long Beach area

Compensation: Hourly wage will be based on experience and qualifications and includes an excellent benefit package (entry level technicians earn $23-$24.95 per hour).

Pay: $23.00 - $24.95 per hour
