Job Description / Responsibility

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a qualified Environmental Expert to support environmental compliance, impact assessment, and reporting activities under a World Bank-funded Government project.

The Environmental Expert will play a critical role in ensuring all project activities comply with the Environmental and Social Code of Practices (ESCoPs), World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF), ADB Safeguard Policy Statement (SPS 2009), and applicable national environmental regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare and update Environmental and Social Management Strategies and Implementation Plans (ES-MSIP) in line with World Bank and ADB guidelines.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA) and develop mitigation plans and monitoring frameworks for project activities.
• Ensure all project activities comply with the Environmental and Social Code of Practices (ESCoPs).
• Monitor and document the implementation of environmental management practices by the contractor's team and field personnel.
• Prepare periodic environmental compliance and monitoring reports for submission to the employer and relevant authorities.
• Assess and manage pollution prevention measures during the project.
• Address climate change considerations and natural hazard risks in project documentation and field operations.
• Support preparation of Sustainable Procurement Proposals and environmental sections of the Technical Proposal.
• Identify and report any environmental non-compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.

• Skills Required: MS Office, Presentation skill, Reporting and Documentation, Context Diagram

Experience Requirements
• At least 3 year(s)
• The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):
• Gas,Power

KEY SKILLS
• Strong report writing and environmental documentation skills
• Knowledge of World Bank ESF (e.g. ESS1, ESS3, ESS4) and ADB SPS 2009 (e.g. Safeguard Requirement 1)
• Familiarity with Bangladesh environmental regulations and applicable national standards
• Ability to conduct site assessments, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures
• Good communication and coordination skills with field teams and project stakeholders
• Proficiency in MS Office and report preparation tools
