About the position
The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations within a manufacturing facility. This role focuses on protecting employees, customers, and the environment by implementing effective safety programs, conducting audits, and leading training initiatives. The manager will also coordinate waste management and respond to regulatory inquiries, ensuring that all safety practices meet industry standards.
Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance with governmental safety regulations and industry standards.
,
• Perform inspections of the plant to identify and correct potential safety hazards.
,
• Implement and monitor corrective actions for identified deficiencies.
,
• Conduct internal safety and environmental audits.
,
• Schedule and lead safety/environmental training for employees.
,
• Maintain the safety log and OSHA 300 log accurately.
,
• Keep all required licenses/permits updated and ensure timely completion of reports.
,
• Assist with or lead the implementation of environmental policies and practices.
,
• Coordinate waste management and risk assessment activities.
,
• Lead the Safety Committee and report on safety program status to management.
,
• Review and maintain Safety Data Sheets and inspect for unauthorized chemicals.
,
• Lead responses to ADEQ and OSHA inquiries or violations.
,
• Investigate accidents and near misses, completing necessary reports.
,
• Manage Emergency Response and Evacuation activities.
Requirements
• Degree in Environmental, Health & Safety, or a related field preferred.
,
• 3+ years of EHS experience in the manufacturing industry.
,
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
,
• Experience with lock out/tag out and confined spaces.
,
• Knowledge of federal and state environmental and safety laws/regulations.
,
• Strong computer skills (MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook).
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in Title 5 Air Permit.
,
• Certified to conduct daily EPA Method 9 Visual Emission reports.
,
• Familiarity with ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems.
