Key Roles

Searching for PE's highly skilled in reliability engineering processes and principles required for Life Cycle Asset Management. Heavy industrial process engineering experience required. Simple and combined cycle gas turbine power generation backgrounds will be a plus.

We are posting the Senior level requirements, but will consider Engineer II, Engineer III or Senior.

To provide expert engineering services and support to assigned group. To successfully manage assignments in a safe, regulatory compliant, timely, and cost effective manner. Demonstrates robust technical expertise in work group area and related technical areas. Ability to work independently on assignments and provide work direction to staff/contractors. Willingly accepts range of assignments. Serves as a technical representative of EKPC in a variety of public and corporate settings.

Key Responsibilities

All Specialties
• Develops/finalizes reports and work plans which recommend action considering short and long-range objectives, economic and budget considerations, etc.
• Develops and coordinates departmental project work plans and manages through completion taking needed correction action. Informs supervisor and manager of any major developments or changes in direction of the project.
• Leads development of work plans and monitors actual progress of applicable portions, taking any corrective action required.
• Completes status report for all work assignments and keeps management informed on progress.
• Technical representative in meetings with public, members, vendors, contractors, and other utilities.
• Successfully manages complex assignments on routine basis.
• Trains and develops less experienced engineers.
• Provides work direction to other staff/contractors on projects as assigned.
• Manages multiples assignments and mentors other staff.
• Analyzes data and makes recommendations and/or decisions.
• Maintains and approves technical records (e.g. drawings, files, databases)
• Oversee and/or completes preparation of estimates (cost, work order, schedules).
• Thorough knowledge of all relevant procedures, specifications, and applicable codes, regulations, compliance rules, and standards (e.g. RUS).
• Collaborates with other team members and supervisors in carrying out assignments.
• Thorough understanding of how decision making and work product impacts other systems, operations, and processes.
• Provides engineering assistance for Member Cooperatives.
• Creates corporate standards and specification related to respective expertise.
• Requires mature engineering knowledge and judgment of sound engineering practices and standards.
• Demonstrates strong technical expertise and awareness of job related field, and continues to remain current on the industry.
• Performs all work in a safe and timely manner.

Production/E&C
• Leads analysis of test data, operating data, and practices; recommends plant improvements
• based on these analyses.
• Leads design of plant improvements in accordance with engineering practices.
• Leads preparation of equipment and construction specifications, evaluation of bids, and recommendation of bidders.
• Leads coordination of contractors or staff on project related work, certification of completed work, and recommendation of final acceptance of the project.
• Leads others in monitoring the project during start-up and recommending modifications necessary to support project success.
• Leads others in improving plant function and increasing efficacy.
• Leads others in planning, testing, collecting, and evaluating data on plant performance. Evaluates results of testing program and recommends improvements.
• Leads others in accumulating, analyzing, and preparing reports concerning industry operations, laws, and regulations.
• Works in conjunction with others to provide engineering services to plan and coordinate procedures for reviewing equipment specifications and system interrelationships for all planned generating facilities.
• Develops and maintains equipment / system maintenance basis strategies.
• Develops and analyzes Condition Based and Predictive Maintenance programs.
• Key component to the daily O&M Work Management Process and Outage Management Team.
• Leads Corrective Action Review and Root Cause Analysis processes to prevent future occurrences.
• Performs all engineering related duties with a Continuous Improvement mindset.

Key Requirements

Education and Certifications / Licenses:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering will be given preference. All Engineering degrees must be from an ABET accredited program. Registered Professional Engineering license in the Commonwealth of Kentucky preferred.

Experience :
• Minimum seven (7) years of progressively responsible engineering work experience required.

• Must be able to read, interpret, and prepare system and equipment manuals, schematic diagrams, and engineering drawings.
• Must have the ability to think logically and creatively and to understand instructions on specific objectives, any complex features, and possible solutions, and formulate good engineering plans/solutions.
• Must be able to plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of engineering.

Working Conditions

Office/Plant
• This is primarily an inside (power generation site) position with usual office conditions.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Travel in and outside the system; travel may be overnight.
• Work outside normal hours may be required.
• Must wear personal protective equipment as appropriate.

Production/E&C
• Due to 24/7 operational cycle, work outside of normal business hours is required on occasion, with potential to include nights and weekends.
• Must be medically certified to wear respiratory protection. Must be able to appropriately don a respirator which would include no facial hair at the sealing surface.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Work in and around operating plant and construction environment where environment demands may include dust, fumes, rough/uneven terrain, variations in temperature, etc.
• This position often works at heights.
• Regularly lifts up to twenty (20) pounds; occasionally lifts up to fifty (50) pounds.
• Must wear personal protective equipment as appropriate.
