Job Description

The Electric Power Research Institute is hiring an Energy Storage Project Engineer in California, MO. The role involves supporting energy storage demonstration projects, conducting safety research, and communicating results to stakeholders. Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field. The position offers a salary range of $87,400 to $102,900 annually and includes participation in employee benefits.
Energy storage is a transformative technology, supporting the integration of renewable energy and providing increased grid resilience and flexibility. EPRI's Energy Storage and Distributed Generation team performs cutting-edge work related to energy storage technology, economics, safety, and operation to support utilities and the industry at large. EPRI staff are thought-leaders, leading collaborative efforts with a variety of stakeholders, including utilities, project developers, technology manufacturers, safety personnel, industry organizations, and more.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements :
Support activities for energy storage demonstration projects, including test plan development, commissioning support, and data analysis to characterize performance metrics.
Support energy storage safety research, performing studies related to safe system design, operation, and decommissioning.
Conducts technical searches and analyzes technical information in support of the project team
Communicates results, written and verbal, to program members, potential members and external stakeholders through guidelines, reports, meetings, webcasts, workshops and conferences
Assists Project / Program managers in assessing customer needs, formulating technical approaches, preparing proposals, technical publications / papers, and making presentations
Works closely with EPRI staff, contractors, and partners to complete projects
Additional Requirements :
2 years of related experience

Able to present at external conferences and meetings on technical work
Has an understanding of other programs at EPRI and how specific program work fits into the EPRI mission
Education :
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required
The salary range for this position is $87,400 USD to $102,900 USD annually.
This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.
This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following : medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD / LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).
EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA). EPRI uses the system to check the work status of new hires by comparing information from the employee's I-9 form against SSA and Department of Homeland Security databases.
