Job Description
The Director of Development Surgery will be responsible for creating, planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive fundraising program aimed at increasing private support for MUSC Health & Medical University of SC. This position will be responsible for fund raising activities for the Departments of Surgery, Orthopedics and Physical Medicine, and Emergency Medicine with the primary focus being major gift fundraising. The position reports directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Development, providing support to the MUSC College of Medicine and working closely with departmental chairs, chiefs, faculty, administrators, and MUSC Foundation and Institutional Development staff. This position may supervise development staff.

Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of major gift fundraising in healthcare and higher education, with a minimum of seven or more years of development experience. Experience using Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge, NXT, or other similar prospect management systems is highly desirable. The successful candidate will also have strong leadership, interpersonal, and communications skills, with the ability to establish excellent working relationships with all constituents. Additionally, they must have the ability to develop budgets and monitor expenditures, as assigned.
