Job Description
Katawba Valley Land Trust seeks a Community Engagement Coordinator to manage membership programs, fundraising, and promote conservation efforts in Lancaster, SC. The role involves event scheduling, utilizing a CRM database, and collaborating with the Executive Director. Ideal candidates should have a bachelor's degree or relevant experience, strong communication skills, and be self-motivated. The position offers a salary of $45,000 plus health benefits and requires flexibility for events.
Katawba Valley Land Trust (KVLT) established in 1992 is an accredited, nonprofit, private conservation organization dedicated to the protection of natural resources, open lands, waters, historic resources, and vistas of aesthetic value in the Catawba River Valley and surrounding areas. The trust operates exclusively for conservation and educational purposes. The main area of focus is Lancaster, Chester and Kershaw Counties, although the trust may work in other areas in South Carolina. KVLT has protected nearly 14,000 acres of land through conservation easements, fee simple ownership, and transfers to other agencies.
The Community Engagement Specialist (CES) will be an energetic, innovative and professional leader with a passion for conservation and the environment. This person is responsible for managing the general membership program, fundraising opportunities and promotion of KVLT through multiple outlets. Utilization of the constituent relationship management database system (Little Green Light) helps ensure accurate and secure information, produce reports and analysis, and connect members to engagement activities this role develops annually to support growth and retention. This position will be responsible for scheduling and representing KVLT at events, outings and fundraisers in addition to pre and post publicity to increase the visibility of KVLT and the important conservation work we do. The CES will work closely with the Executive Director and Advancement committee to promote KVLT, identify and secure funding opportunities, connect and grow membership, and assist in general administrative duties to help continue our mission of conservation.
DESIRED QUALFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in related field or 2 years work experience in non-profit or sales fields
Excellent communication skills in verbal and writing
Meticulous record keeping
Adept as using various applications including database, spreadsheet, graphics, word processing (CRM database, MS Office suite, Outloook) and ability to learn new technology
Familiar with social media and website for promotional purposes
Ability to think creatively, strategically and entrepreneurially
Self-motivated and can work both independently and with others
Flexible schedule to allow for some after hours and weekend events
Experience planning and prioritizing workload to meet tight deadlines while juggling priorities
Ability to implement an annual fundraising strategic plan
Lift a minimum of 25 pounds
Valid SC Drivers license
Salary: $45,000 with work cell phone and full health benefits
