AltGen is seeking a Commercial Executive in Johannesburg, South Africa, to lead its commercial function in the renewable energy sector. A leading EPC operating in South Africa’s renewable energy sector is hiring a Commercial Executive to take ownership of its commercial function. As the Commercial Executive, you own the revenue target for the business and are a key member of its leadership team. You are tasked with leading the company’s commercial strategy, lead a team responsible for all B2B sales, account management, and retention. This role requires strategic thinking and a proven track record in commercial leadership, strong business acumen and a deep understanding of the energy sector. This is a senior management role based in Johannesburg, with a clear expectation to lead on strategy, team development, and deal execution.
What We’re Looking For:
• Leading commercial operations across the business
• Managing contract negotiations, including EPCs, PPAs, and related agreements
• Overseeing financial modelling, pricing, and financial structuring of projects
• Supporting the development of the sales team and processes
• Engaging with clients, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders
• Contributing to broader business planning and decision-making
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement commercial strategies that drive revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion
• Lead and manage the negotiation of large-scale contracts, including PPAs and EPC agreements, ensuring favourable terms and legal compliance
• Oversee project financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and investment evaluation to support sound commercial decisions
• Drive business development by identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities, partnerships, and long-term client relationships
• Cultivate and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across clients, suppliers, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies
• Lead and mentor a high-performing commercial team, fostering a results-driven and collaborative culture
• Provide accurate revenue forecasting and performance tracking, contributing commercial insight to executive decision-makin.
