Job Description
JJ's Waste & Recycling in Brisbane, Australia is seeking a Commercial Analyst/Logistics Analyst to drive financial and strategic success in national operations. Responsibilities include analyzing contracts, developing logistical solutions, conducting site visits, and leading negotiations. The role requires collaboration across departments to influence pricing strategies and improve operational efficiency. Candidates should have expertise in cost analysis and project management. The position is office-based with no mention of remote work.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Commercial Analyst / Logistics Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in driving the financial and strategic success of our national operations.
More than just number crunching, this position is about delivering actionable insights that guide key business decisions, influence pricing strategies, and ensure the commercial viability of new and existing opportunities.
With your expertise in cost analysis, contract performance, and operational efficiency, you’ll collaborate across departments to shape tenders, assess contract renewals, and recommend performance improvements. Your insights will help us ensure that every contract benefits both our customers and our bottom line.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Interpret tender documents and develop efficient logistical solutions, often requiring on-site assessments
• Review contracts to identify and mitigate risks, engaging directly with key stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of requirements
• Conduct site visits to Council areas to analyse resource requirements (truck types, service hours, etc.) ensuring tailored solutions
• Lead negotiations with internal and external stakeholders, including direct interactions with clients / customers to secure favourable terms and foster long-term partnerships.
• Perform detailed cost and profitability analysis to inform pricing, presenting findings and recommendations
• Collaborate on new contract implementations and project manage rollouts, working closely with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth transitions and successful service delivery.
• Deliver monthly P&L reports and highlight exceptions with action plans, often communicating these insights directly to operational management and internal stakeholders
• Evaluate contract KPIs and work with Regional Managers to address discrepancies and collaboratively resolve issues.
• Evaluate tender opportunities and acquisition prospects, which may involve initial meetings and presentations to prospective clients / customers / stakeholders
ABOUT YOU
This dynamic role requires a multi-skilled professional comfortable working across finance, logistics, legal, and project management disciplines. You'll be expected to take initiative, think strategically, and act decisively to ensure successful contract outcomes and continuous improvement.
Experience in Pricing Strategy / Tender Proposals is ideal.
For this role, you will:
• Proven ability to switch between strategic and tactical responsibilities
• Experience in transport, logistics, or service-based industries
• Practical, hands-on approach with strong commercial acumen
• Resilient under pressure with the ability to meet tight deadlines
• Results-driven and passionate about improving operational efficiency
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
• Demonstrated experience in P&L ownership, budgeting, and business analysis
• Track record of driving and embedding continuous improvement initiatives
• Contract management experience essential
• Preferred: Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Logistics, or Accounting
• Experience with tender pricing strategies and proposals highly desirable
