About the position
The Climate and Resilience Lead and Project Manager at Versar Global Solutions is responsible for leading climate-focused consulting projects primarily for the Department of Defense, specifically the U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps. This role involves providing subject matter expertise, managing technical teams, and ensuring the successful execution of climate adaptation and resilience projects. The position requires collaboration across various technical areas and aims to deliver high-quality solutions that meet federal and military standards.
Responsibilities
• Provide solutions-based leadership and subject matter expertise to federal government experts.

• Lead a technical team in assessing and developing plans for adaptation measures.

• Implement and help develop policies related to climate adaptation and resilience.

• Ensure technical excellence in executing vulnerability assessments and climate adaptation projects.

• Track and manage project progress, financials, schedules, and deliverables.

• Identify potential technical issues and develop mitigation strategies.

• Mentor technical staff in the climate space.

• Lead responses to white papers and proposals.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in ecology, environmental engineering, sustainability, climate change science, planning, environmental science, or a related degree; advanced degree preferred.

• 8+ years' experience in project management in climate and resilience markets.

• Command of U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps guidance and processes is ideal.

• Expertise in resilience and climate adaptation for the DoD.

• Proven project management experience with teams and project execution.

• Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders to assess climate constraints.

• Understanding of weather and meteorological forecasting risks is a plus.

• Exceptional relationship building and management skills.

• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to adapt to changing environments.
