Requirements

Education

Bachelors in Environmental/ Climate Science/ Disaster Management/ Agriculture/ Development Studies or any relevant discipline.

Job Purpose: Climate and Environmental Specialist will be in a key strategic position to support Climate Resilience Early Warning System (CREWSnet) project in driving the Climate Adaptation and resilience agenda forward. CREWSnet will extend proven forecasting and simulation methods to predict climate impacts at village‑ and community‑scale in western Bangladesh.

Key Responsibilities
• Responsible to analysing the local environment and climate change information required by the project.
• Develop a database of the environmental elements of the project areas, specifically the climate vulnerable coast, as per project requirement.
• Responsible for Environmental impact assessment and climate risk analysis as per project proposal
• Support in running climate/environmental modelling.
• Literature review on the environment and climatic data and keep the research and implementation team aware of the updated information.
• Communicate the environmental and climatic information with the community in an easy language.
• Provide support to activity planning on environmental governance.
• Active participation in local-level planning and execution.
• Documentation, article writing and communique development.
• Prepare monthly, periodic, need-based reports.

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
