Job Description
The Cat Pad Technician at Arcwood Environmental in Whiting, IN, is responsible for ensuring health and safety, managing paperwork and truck traffic, operating heavy equipment, and performing labor tasks related to the cat pad operations. Candidates should have a high school diploma, preferably 1 year of related experience, and a HAZWOPER certificate. This safety-sensitive position requires regular attendance and the ability to lift 60 lbs.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
• Ensures Health & Safety is the number on e goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Manages paperwork and truck traffic on the cat pad.
• Operates heavy equipment; primarily a forklift or bobcat.
• Swap out carbon canisters (lakefront and refinery); load and offload carbon canister trucks.
• Labor tasks at cat pad including but not limited to rinsing boxes, housekeeping on the pad, and sampling new material.
• Collect and sort aerosols.
• Segregate and manage any incoming hazardous and non-hazardous material on the cat pad, which can include out of date and used chemicals.
• Any tasks that may arise associated with cat pad operations or assistance to the cat pad loader/operator.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: 1 year of related experience and 24-40 hour HAZWOPER certificate preferred.
Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Ability to understand RCRA compliance standards and OSHA safety regulations. Ability to work closely with others. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including respirator and ability to lift 60 lbs. OSHA 10 & OSHA 40 hour training preferred.
A post offer Drug Screen will be required.
