Role: Carbon Credit Buyer Strategy Consultant (3-Month Contract)
Location: Hybrid (Preferably Bangalore, open globally)
Company: RenewCred | www.renewcred.com
Type: Full-time | 3-Month Contract | INR 1.5–2.25L
Start Date: Early June | Applications Close: May 31
At RenewCred, we’re building India’s most credible and technology-led carbon credit standard, registry, and marketplace. As we scale up on the supply side, we’re now diving deep into the demand side - and we’re looking for a domain expert to co-create our Buyer-Side Thesis.
This is a full-time, founder-collaboration role directly working with Abhimanyu Rathi, Founder & CEO of RenewCred. You will help shape the thinking behind how, why, and what buyers seek in the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM).
What You’ll Do:
• Develop a detailed buyer-side sector thesis for VCM.
• Classify buyer profiles and their buying behaviors (spot, long-term, offtake, FPA, etc.).
• Build and analyze a set of interviews with Indian and global credit buyers - corporates, financial institutions, and governments.
• Model regulatory forces shaping buyer behavior (India and global).
• Forecast demand evolution: price, volume, and structure of deals.
• Co-develop a refined India-specific buyer narrative.
• Suggest the most promising business models for carbon credit purchases.
• Translate all of this into a seminal document that clearly presents (or critiques) carbon credits as a strategic path to Net Zero.
You’re a Fit If:
• You have 4+ years of experience in voluntary carbon markets, especially from the buyer's side.
• You’ve worked with corporates, consultancies, financial institutions, or government on carbon offsetting strategies.
• You’re curious, self-driven, and capable of structuring clarity in a fuzzy world.
• You enjoy working independently, without managerial overhead.
• You can run surveys, conduct stakeholder interviews, and analyse results into models and narratives.
• You’re obsessed with climate, sustainability finance, and solving the emissions equation with rigour and data.
Compensation:
• INR 1.5-2.25 lakhs (USD 1750-2600) total for the 3-month period (based on experience and contribution).
• Paid in two parts, with potential for extension or full-time role depending on output.
Structure:
• No reporting lines, no fixed hours.
• Weekly sync-ups directly with the founder.
• Final north star: A detailed, defensible document that can help global buyers trust and transact in India's emerging carbon market.
