Job Description
Kimley-Horn is seeking an Experienced CAD Operator for its Renewable Energy team in Las Vegas, NV. The role involves creating and quality-checking complex CAD drawings for substations and distribution packages using AutoCAD, performing calculations, maintaining drawing databases, and possibly supervising CAD staff. Candidates should have 3+ years of experience, advanced skills in Autodesk Civil3D, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Overview
Kimley-Horn is looking for an Experienced CAD Operator to join our Renewable Energy team in Las Vegas, NV!
Responsibilities
• The person in this position will make and quality check drawings and plans of substantial complexity and may perform some multifaceted calculations
• Responsibility to develop:
• substation packages in AutoCAD up to 500 kV. This includes single line diagrams, substation layouts, control building layouts, electrical elevation views, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panel elevations, etc.
• distribution packages in AutoCAD up to 34.5 kV. This includes single line diagrams, above and below grade circuit routing, aerial or survey data integration, trench, grounding, and pole details, street lighting design, etc.
• substation CAD design standardization process to expedite design timelines
• database of CAD tools and blocks for specific HV substations (and transmission lines) to support analysts and engineers with a plug-and-play AutoCAD experience
• database of major equipment for both substation (and transmission)
• Use automated design (AUD) for the development of distribution material lists and guying, voltage drop, and pull tension modeling.
• Perform quality control checks and provide feedback to team members
• Requires minimal supervision to perform day to day tasks
• Has knowledge of engineering principles and suggests design changes
• Maintains drawing database
• May supervise and train CAD staff
• Develop familiarity with Kimley-Horn's practices, procedures, and standards
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree preferred)
• 3+ years of relevant experience
• Advanced knowledge and proficiency in Autodesk Civil3D
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self-starter
• Strong work ethic, interpersonal communication/writing skills and desire to learn
• Ability to work independently and with a team
