Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science ( BCES )
Department is seeking an inctructor to teach an Introduction to GIS
( ESCI 298) course that supports majors in the Environmental
Science program and students in our new Environmental Science 4+1
Master of Science program. The instructor will be expected to teach
an undergraduate level introduction to Geographic Information
Systems, with emphasis on environmental applications. ESCI 298 is a
4-credit course that introduces the fundamental concepts and tools
of geospatial analysis and cartographic design in GIS . Through a
series of lectures and hands-on computer-based exercises offered on
campus, students will learn the essential elements of GIS .
Position includes summer stipend prior to the Fall 2025 semester
for course development in collaboration with existing Environmental
Science faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or
related discipline
• Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Pro software and ArcGIS online
• Classroom experience teaching at the community college or
university level
• Experience in working with diverse faculty, staff, and student
populations
• Equivalent combination of experience and education
